He’s done it before and he was expected to do it again. We are talking about Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun posting photos of himself posing with unreleased Xiaomi devices. The last time around he did it with the Mi Band 2 and this time it is the soon to be announced Mi 5S smartphone. This time however, the CEO is not in the photograph as the photograph itself is more important. The image that has been clicked on a yacht is supposed to showcase the dual-camera’s capabilities. One that is expected to arrive with the Xiaomi Mi 5S smartphone. Image: GizmoChina Image: GizmoChina The post on Weibo as reported by GizmoChina comes from the CEO’s official account and he confirms that it was shot using the Mi 5S and that the image was not clicked using any sort of filter or software modification. Now that the name of the flagship has finally been confirmed, it is easy to notice how well the dual camera setup deals with the multiple exposures that can be visible from the photograph. Both the dangling rope and the sunset are well exposed which would otherwise not be possible using a single lens and sensor set up (unless you use HDR). Xiaomi’s Mi 5S seems to be producing these exposures at the hardware level. Chinese website MyDrivers reportedly got hold of the actual image (well somewhat because Weibo compresses images). The EXIF data shows that the image indeed comes from an Mi 5S. So finally the name of Xiaomi’s next flagship has been confirmed. Now the only other details left to revealed would be those about the dual camera’s sensor size. The launch of the Mi 5s is expected to take place on 27 September in China and Xiaomi, from what has been revealed so far, is expected to pack in top of the line hardware. The Mi 5s is expected to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 paired with 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Unlike the LeEco Le Pro 3 which was launched yesterday, the device is expected to pack in a smaller 5.15-inch display and a 3,490 mAh battery.
