New Delhi and the National Capital Region is one of the busiest and one of the most visited parts of the country.  The city is filled with a host of places that one can visit, from world-famous monuments and UNESCO world heritage sites; there is something on offer for everyone. But the city also boasts some places which are hugely overlooked by tourists and visitors. These places offer some amazing sights and scenery. Some of these are:

Akshardham Temple: A massive temple located in the heart of Delhi, it boasts of many cultural and spiritual activities that one can indulge in. It possesses a level of grandeur unmatched by any other place. The temple promotes the values and beliefs of Hinduism and also helps people understand the spirituality of the culture. The temple is visited very often by people, but yet somehow tourists still manage to look past that. The place also offers many cultural exhibitions and includes boat rides. Inside the temple is the AkshardhamMandir, the temple itself is 141 feet tall and 316 feet wide. The design is very traditional but the materials used are very modern, with the utilization of sandstone from Rajasthan and marble from Italy. It is a place worth a visit and one may also end up on the path of realization once they are enlightened from the aura of the temple.

Gandhi Smriti: A place often missed by tourists, this is the exact location where the great Mahatma was shot. As a gesture, the place is generally very silent and one can still feel the importance and weight of the actions of Gandhi. There is more than just a singular monument where one can pay their respects, there are rooms filled with photographs, sculptures and paintings that descript his story. There is also a multimedia film played daily which chronicles his life in great details and is worth a watch. It doesn’t matter if one is patriotic or not, one can still pay homage to one of the nation’s greatest leaders and a pioneer in our freedom movement.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: This Sikh temple was once the residence of the great Mirza Raja Jai Singh and hence this place is a very aptly named as Bangla Sahib. This is a temple of Zen and peace and one can feel the calmness in the walls of the place. Once one completes their pilgrimage and has found a sense of accomplishment they can receive the blessing from the Almighty in the form of a ‘Langar’ which is a common meal initiated by the Waheguru.

These are some of the sights in the NCR which often does not get the attention it deserves. They have a great story and history to tell, one can spend time admiring the places and admiring the riches. The next step should be to book your flights. For example, if you are from Mumbai, then look for Mumbai to Delhi flights schedule and book a flight as soon as possible. Delhi has a lot more to offer and one should wait for no further to explore this place.

When we are discussing India, one thought that pops up is the sheer diversity and the intermingling of a multitude of cultures. This stark contrast is most visible when one notices the striking differences in culture, language and lifestyle. This huge distinction makes it a hard task to bridge these two cultures and the one link which everyone in the country can share is the Railways.

The Indian Railways is one of the largest public transport networks in the world and carries over 8 billion passengers annually; while employing over 1.3 million people. This is why one can always relate to travelling by rail and what it means to them, regardless of where they are from.

Controlling such a vast country’s railway network through a singular organization would be disastrous. In the post-independence era of the 1950s, the government decided to divide the IR into 9 different regions for better control and smoother operation of the railways. These zones would function autonomously yet report to the IR, it would also have further sub-divisions and regional manager for easy working.  During the 2000s, the 9 regions were further split into 8 more regions, bringing it to a total of 17 railway zones in India.

South India and its railway network
The Southern Railways was one of the first 9 zones to be created. It was established on 14th April 1951, when the IR merged three state-owned railways, namely the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway Company and the Mysore State Railway to form a single railway zone. Its origins, however, can be dated back to the times of the British rule, specifically in 1853 when the Great Southern India Railway Company was founded. It was the first zone to be formed, as the geographic and economic factors in this region facilitated easy integration of railway tracks. This relatively quick and straightforward amalgamation led to a fast streamlining and organizing the working pattern of the Southern Railway. These can be attributed to the fact that South Indians are an honest and hardworking people, and readily accept the terms and conditions set forth by the IR, when they first established the region.

The southern railway is headquartered in Chennai Central and is one of the most important zones of the IR.The Southern Railways consists of six divisions namely; Chennai, Salem, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirapalli and Madurai. It covers the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Each year an estimated 300 million people travel via Southern Railways every year. The special feature that separates SR from other zones is the fact that its revenue is derived from passengertraffic and not from carrying freight.

South India is filled with a myriad of scenery and colourful places, the backwaters of Kerala, the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu, and the Western Ghats are some of the places renowned for their beauty and scenery.  One can get on right away and proceed to train ticket booking and experience the culture and hospitality of the region.

The choice of your backpack is an important step in the preparation of your world tour. Your faithful companion will spend hundreds of hours on your shoulders during this trip.

In this file, we explain the criteria to take into account to choose the bag best suited to your way of traveling.
To help you find your bearings, we have compared in detail the models most frequently chosen by the Turdumondists. Best concealed carry backpack can be found here.

What extra bag for the day?

We often underestimate the weight gain of volume that can be obtained by choosing well its booster bag. For example, the classic 22-liter Quechua Escape bag weighs 502g and takes up a lot of space inside your big bag. It's way too heavy and too big.

Travel bag with a built-in removable accessory bag

Some big bags (Deter Traveler and Osprey Far point for example) have a small removable bag that is zipped in the big bag. It is very practical, it avoids having to find room in the big bag with each long trip. It can be detached quickly (in general) to get on a bus leaving the big in the cargo hold.

The biggest disadvantage is that it takes the center of gravity away from your backpack, so it pulls over your shoulders. It also complicates a little access to the inside of the bag.
Finally, it is usually quite small, closer to 10 liters than 20 liters and its weight is around 200 grams, which is not so heavy, but improbable.

Many travelers appreciate this solution, but Francis prefers to take a separate bag and buy a lighter travel bag without this option.

Backpack Or Bag With Wheels?

The answer may seem obvious, but some people still ask the question. The results of our survey show that almost all Turdumondists opt for a backpack.

During your journey, you will have to walk on unpaved roads and paths where it will be difficult to drag a trolley.

Abandon immediately the idea of taking a suitcase, even small. Are you a backpacker (in English), a mochilero (in Spanish), a backpacker (in French)?
The backpack is your attribute!
Not only is it impossible, of course, to hike with a wheeled bag, but you will also be limited or inconvenienced by the means of transport that you will want to take. How will you get to take a motorcycle taxi in South East Asia?

You will most certainly take tiny and crowded buses. You may have to sit on the floor in the middle aisle. You must be able to get on and off quickly and keep the people around you as much as possible.

Hiking backpack

For the French, hiking backpacks remain the norm. Of the Turdumondists, 88% of women and 97% of men choose this type of bag.

With their fighter look, they offer a good wearing comfort (especially for hiking), as well as many pockets, straps ... and, are lighter than sometimes more than a kilo compared to the suitcase backpacks.
On the other hand, they are less accessible, which can, when your bag is your only wardrobe for a year, become quite frustrating in the long run.

François uses a hiking backpack (Quechua Easy fit ) which is cheap and especially light, only 1.75 kg.

Suitcase backpack

More common in Anglo-Saxon countries, suitcases (such as Quechua Escape, Deter Traveler and Osprey Far point for example) are an interesting alternative to the traditional hiking backpack. Among the Turdumondists, 12% of women and 3% of men choose this type of bag.

They are really designed for backpackers. They offer a large compartment that opens completely, like a suitcase, which allows much easier access to content. Even if they are a little less adventurous, they nevertheless offer a good wearing comfort.
They can be used in trekking, even if the weight distribution is not as optimal as with a hiking bag and they are generally heavier.

In addition, they often incorporate a small removable bag, which is zipped on the big bag.

Hotels will always say that they have the best accommodation, bragging that they have 5-star rating, but the truth is, only a handful can live up to their promise. As a would-be hotel guest, you should know how to draw the line between legitimate luxury hotels and ordinary ones.

Parramatta is home to some of the most luxurious hotels in Australia. Because of the region’s breath-taking sceneries and proximity to the central business district, it is no wonder why many local and foreign tourists flock the area. Moreover, because there is an abundance of number of tourists, it is natural for hoteliers to establish their businesses there. Today, there are many hotels in the area, from average ones to luxurious ones, catering to the accommodation needs of variety of guests.

While there are many great hotels in Parramatta, not all can provide the genuine luxury feel to guests. The problem is that almost all of the hotels in the area conveniently use the term “luxury” even if its amenities and hospitality services are not at par with that of legitimate luxury hotels. Hence, if you are looking for genuine luxury feel and experience, it will be handy to know the characteristics of an authentic luxury accommodation.

The rule of thumb in determining whether or not a Parramatta hotel is up to 5-star standards is to consider these elements: room, hotel service, amenities, and location. When you stay at Parramatta, a good portion of your time will be spent the most at your hotel room. If you are planning to stay at a 5-star hotel, then your room must be up to luxury standards. It is common for 5-star hotels to pamper their guests with triple-sheeted beds, live plants, more than 10 types of hangers, fresh flowers, top-of-the-line TV, and a stereo system. Needless to say, the room must be spacious and promote a luxurious feel.

The key difference between 5-star hotels from other hotels is that the former is more intimate, comprehensive, and personal. While other average hotels can assure politeness of staff and hotel crew, and graciousness of service personnel, luxury hotels will always go an extra mile when it comes to service. It is natural for these luxurious hotels to give in to almost any request of guests. As they say, there is no request too eccentric when staying at a luxury hotel.

As a guest paying for good amount of money to stay at a 5-star hotel, you should expect nothing but the best amenities. Common amenities in a luxury Parramatta hotel include premium cable television, phone lines, fitness room, personal headphones, latest magazines, iPod docking system, pet room service, and even baby butlers. Needless to say, 5-star hotels will always pamper guests to the extreme. One of the most obvious differences between a 5-star hotel and average hotel is the former’s location and environment. Authentic 5-star hotels are usually located in the most convenient and strategic places in the area. These hotels should be near points of interests, and should have a great view of the town. Furthermore, a luxury hotel must provide a distinct and unique environment for guests in order to justify its price.

When choosing a Parramatta hotel, make sure that the hotel you will choose has the best rooms, hotel service, amenities, and location. If you are after the best experience possible, then choose only an authentic luxury hotel. Make sure you get what you pay for. The last thing you would want to happen in your vacation is to feel that you were cheated and that you did not maximize your stay.
Travelling is a passion and the one who loves to travel places has a knowledge of the world more than any normal person. As a whole, the month of December is a whirlwind. Even as the chaos of Thanksgiving weekend begins to fade, the world is already preparing for the end-of-year holidays. Balancing the frenzy of shopping, company parties, and family time can be daunting, but those who manage to squeeze in time to get away—or perhaps, give the gift of getting away—will find affordable rates, seasonal revelry, and beautiful landscapes in which to cap off another great year.
Winter’s best features are on full display in December: fresh snowfall, festive storefronts, and drinks that warm your core. Some of the best holiday markets in Europe are found in picturesque Prague, arguably one of the best places in the world to spend Christmas. Over in Scotland, Edinburgh celebrates the season with Hogmanay, a three-day festival of musical performances, public dance, food, and—yes—fireworks. Quebec City, meanwhile, lays on the romance: you’ll find couples riding horse-drawn carriages and ducking into low-lit cafés for hot cocoa.
One of Germany’s largest Christmas markets is found in Frankfurt, surprisingly one of this month’s most affordable places to travel. Those interested in saving should also look to Las Vegas, where hotel prices plummet with the oncoming holidays.
Hoping to flee the cold weather? A trip to sunny beach getaways like Hawaii’s Big Island, Mexico, or the Bahamas will surely cure any winter woe. Better yet, avoid the sand altogether at balmy spots like Siem Reap (where dry season spells clear skies) or Florida’s Everglades, a mecca for wildlife enthusiasts with its populations of greater flamingoes, Florida panthers, and American crocodiles.
December marks your last chance to cash in on this year’s travel resolution before they reset in the new year, so let the magic of the season take you to a place near or far. (And be sure to catch up on all our recommendations for the best places to visit in January, February, and beyond.)
