Hack Your Android Nougat Phone To Get Early Access To Google Assistant

   

While most of the devices Google announced in the special Pixel launch event in San Francisco will require you to burn a hole a in your pocket, one of the most ingenious and probably the most essential thing unveiled in the event comes for free- the Google Assistant.

Google Assistant is the product of years of research in the field of AI. Google has built Google Assistant in such a way that it harnesses the entire knowledge base of Google Search to come up with relevant answers to just about all your queries. Yet, though it comes free of cost, it's only available in the Google Pixel phones unveiled at the event. But if you have a phone running Android 7.0 Nougat, there is a way to turn on Google Assistant on your device.

Redmond Pie made a guide to install Google Assistant on any Android Nougat powered device. Of course you need a rooted phone to run the hack. If you haven't rooted your phone, this is the moment you have been waiting for.

Before doing anything, make sure you have the latest Google app on your phone (version 6.5.35.21).

Next you need to have an Android Nougat phone, which is unfortunately just a handful of Nexus users.

Once you meet all the parameters, head to the "build.prop" file inside the "/system" folder and and add the following lines to the file using a text editor app.

ro.product.model= Pixel XL

ro.opa.eligible_device= true

Save and exit the file and then reboot your device. When it starts back up, head to "Settings" and clear data and cache for the Google App.

Once done, tap on the home button and you will have Google Assistant in your fingertips.
