A new malware has been discovered that does not steal any data from you but instead, forces hacked apps into your phone. The ‘Agent Smith’ malware has reportedly infected over 25 Android devices in the world, including 15 million in India alone.

Researchers at security firm Check Point came across this malware that poses as a Google app, takes advantage of the vulnerabilities of Android's operating system and replaces legitimately installed apps with fake ones to profit from fraud ads shown by these apps. Agent Smith started off on a popular third-party app store 9Apps, hidden inside apps that are barely there, like photo utility and sex-related apps.

After this vector attack, the malware moved to Google Play Store and hacked into 11 apps: Blockman Go: Free Realms & Mini Games by Blockman Go Studio, Cooking Witch by Ghost Rabbit, Ludo Master – New Ludo Game 2019 For Free, Angry Virus, Bio Blast – Infinity Battle: Shoot virus!, Shooting Jet, Gun Hero: Gunman Game for Free, Clash of Virus, Star Range, Crazy Juicer – Hot Knife Hit Game & Juice Blast, and Sky Warriors: General Attack. Google has now removed these infected apps from the Play Store for good.

The hackers targeted mainly Russian, Indonesian, Arabic and Hindi speakers, according to the research firm. The malware also infected devices in the U.S, the UK and Australia. Researchers have found that the activity of Agent Smith bears close resemblance to the way CopyCat, Gooligans and Hummingbird have worked lately. An interesting feature of the newly discovered malware is that it prevents the target from updating the app and only replaces portions of codes to take over the device.

And standard cleaning agents are not going to be good enough to keep your interior looking fresh, as they are often filled with harsh chemicals and may even leave behind streaks or marks.

Instead of taking a gamble on whether or not these cleaners will work, just use our DIY recipes, and save yourself the headache and hassle. This is also a great way to avoid having it professionally cleaned, too.

For this we turned to our friends of Big Motoring World, an online used cars dealer, and they gave us some amazing tips on how to clean your luxury cars DIY-style.

Cleaning Slime

This sounds gross at first. Cleaning slime? Yuck. But this is actually a really great way for you to get into those hard to reach places and extract the dirt, dust and grime that builds up. You can use it on your car’s radio buttons, or the power window and door buttons. The point of the slime is that it is slightly tacky, so it picks up the dirt that is hard to reach.

Here are the ingredients:

·         1 1/2 cups of warm water
·         ¼ cup of borax laundry boost
·         5 ounces of school glue
·         Food Coloring (this is optional)

The Recipe:

  Using a paper cup, mix your water with borax, and stir till dissolved. Put this borax water to the side.

   In a mixing bowl mix up a half cup of warm water, the glue and 2 drops of food color.

   Add in the borax water, stir until it is firm. It is going to start as a goo-like mess, but it will get firmer as you mix it up.

   Knead this with your hands until it becomes a dry ooze ball. This can take about five or so minutes.

      If the slime is sticking to your hands, or won’t ball up, add one or two   tablespoons of borax.


       Do not use the slime unless you can roll it into a ball.

Using this is a little tricky. You must knead a piece into a firm ball, then dab what you are attempting to clean. Don’t allow the slime to sit on any electronics or surfaces for more than a second, as it will ooze inside of your unit and could ruin it. Just dab and go. It is pleasing to the touch and gets dirt out of the hard to reach nooks and crannies.

DIY Leather Cleaner

Part of the joy of owning luxury cars is the fact that they feature lovely leather interiors that look classy and provide comfort for passengers and drivers. Keeping those leather interiors looking as nice as day one is easy when you have the right products to do so. Check out this leather cleaning recipe that uses ingredients you have in your home. It will keep your leather looking healthier and conditions it, too.

What You Need:

·         ¼ cup of olive oil
·         ½ cup of regular vinegar
·         One spray bottle

All you need to do now is mix the two ingredients together within the spray bottle and shake it up really well. Spray it onto the leather and wipe it down with a cotton cloth. You can also add in a drop of your favorite essential oil into the mixture too, if you like-we added lemon-to give it a pleasant little smell. This also cuts down on the vinegar smell, too (but it doesn’t last all that long, anyway).

Do not use this on suede, whatever you do-but take note that it is fine for regular leather.

DIY Car Soap

You can make your very own car wash soap that is a lot cheaper and easier than getting into the car, battling traffic, and searching for it only to find that it is out of stock at your local auto parts store. Make yourself up a batch of soap that you can use for the next few washes that are going to come your way

Here are the ingredients:

·         ¼ cup of baking soda
·         1 Gallon bucket/jug with a lid
·         ¼ cup of dishwashing liquid
·         Water to fill the bucket almost to the top

Now mix up the solution and put the lid onto your bucket. When it is time to give your car a washing, mix the solution up again and pour one cup of it into a water bucket. Fill the water bucket up with warm water, stir it up, and then use the solution to wash your car.



















Ammonia for Windows and Wipers

You can use household ammonia to clean up wipers and windows.

For wipers, cleanliness is important as they help you see better in poor weather. The same goes for windows-being able to see out of them well prevents accidents and promotes safety.

Mix up ¼ cup of household ammonia with 1 liter or 34 oz of cold water. Lift up the blades and wipe both sides of them with a soft cloth or paper towel that is saturated with the cleaner. Wipe them off with a dry cloth and lower them back down.

For windshields/windscreens, add 60 ML of ammonia to 1 liter of water and pour it into a plastic bottle with the cap on tight. Keep it in the car for washing windows. As the windows get dirty, take out your mixture and apply it with a sponge. Then dry it with soft cloth or paper towels.

Keep Lights Shining

Keep your headlights bright by using an old pair of pantyhose and some window cleaner. Apply window cleaner to the headlights and rub vigorously with the old pantyhose.

Conclusion

Facebook is expanding its artificial intelligence-based suicideprevention efforts. The company said today that it has plans to eventually monitor and respond to suicidal intent on Facebook "worldwide," excluding the European Union.
Today, Facebook's vice president of product management Guy Rosenpublished a blog about the company's efforts to detect and report users who express "thoughts of suicide." The post states that Facebook is"[u]sing pattern recognition to detect posts or live videos where someone might be expressing thoughts of suicide, and to help respond to reports faster." But Rosen said the company is also relying on more human reviewers who investigate suicide- and self harm-related posts. This "Community Operations team" is comprised of thousands of workers, including a "dedicated group of specialists who have specific training in suicide and self harm." Reviewers use software that points them to portions of videos that have a spike in comments and reactions.
These workers also uses pattern-recognition software to determine what order they should review flagged posts and videos, and to determine which local authorities they should alert about potential suicide attempts. The flagging software looks for certain phrases, like "Can I help?" and "Are you ok?"
Facebook did not respond to a sliceyourlife request for more information on how the machine-learning software flags posts that might include suicidal thoughts, which could lead to people getting reported to their local authorities.
Facebook first announced in May that it was hiring 3,000 people to help monitor the social networking site for comments, posts, and videos about murder and suicide. Ryan Calo, a professor at University of Washington who specializes in cyber law and privacy, expressed concern to Reutersover the notion of Facebook scanning comments and posts for harmful activity. "Once you open the door, you might wonder what other kinds of things we would be looking for," Calo told Reuters.
Rosen wrote that, in the last month, Facebook connected with first responders on more than 100 cases stemming from suicide-related Facebook posts. That does not include the reports that Facebook has received from concerned users. Facebook also produced a video of police officers in Chautauqua County, New York, discussing a case in which a Facebook reported a post of a person threatening to commit suicide. According to the sheriff and deputy in the video, local authorities were able to track the person down through a "cellphone ping" and took her to a hospital.
Rosen wrote that Facebook is expanding its use of suicide-prevention AI outside of the United States and plans to eventually apply the system across the world, excluding the European Union. Facebook did not respond to a sliceyourlife request for information on what other countries will be included in this effort.


Cryptocurrency is the rave these days. Bitcoin, Ethereum and among 900 other such digital currencies are being traded and mined with people making millions of dollars off them. It is also being projected as the next big thing in finance, particularly because of the underlying technology of the cryptocurrency - Blockchain, which renders transparency to all the transactions made using the currency. That is something the banks and your regular fiat currency cannot promise. 

But transparency aside, the most astonishing aspect of these cryptocurrencies is the fact that you can create them yourselves. Well, not technically create them. Mine them, to be precise. While fiat currency like dollar bills are printed by the government, Bitcoins are discovered by mining them. 

No. You don't need to start digging the ground to find these currencies. Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies are mined using brute force computing. In that sense, there is a gold rush on right now and people are spending lakhs of rupees on computer rigs to create wealth in the form of crypto currencies. 

Now, we know your palms are sweaty to start mining. But let's do some theory before the practical, shall we? Let's learn what exactly is mining, before learning how to mine. 

Essentially, you can use the computer lying around at your place to mine Bitcoins but it's not that easy. Mining is essentially computers competing with each other to validate the Bitcoin's blockchain which is nothing but the general ledger that keeps a record of all transactions made using Bitcoins. There are hundreds of Bitcoin transactions being made across the world and considering that it not a government-supervised currency, somebody has to keep a record of all such transactions to prevent fraud from being committed. The onus automatically falls on our intelligent sidekicks, the computers considering that we as humans can't even trust our next door neighbour. 

Bitcoin transactions are written into blocks and all the blocks are then compiled into a general ledger, which is the blockchain. Using the blockchain, anyone can check any transaction that happened between Bitcoin addresses at any point in time. But does anyone make sure that no one tampers with the blockchain? 

This is ensured by making every block unique by adding a hash at the end of it. Once a block is created, the miners apply a complex mathematical formula to it, that turns the blocks into a shorter, random sequence of numbers and letters which is called hash. Hashes can also be easily produced by people, so the authenticity is maintained by using the hash from the previous block to create the hash for the new one. If someone tampers with any of the hashes, the entire public becomes aware of it. 

Essentially, this practice of using the hash from the block is where the miners compete in. It's called "sealing off" off a block and once a miner successfully creates a block and seals it, he earns 25 Bitcoins. 

Over time, as more and more Bitcoins have been discovered, the Bitcoin network which oversees the cryptocurrencies' movements, have made it more and more difficult to mine them. As a result, while earlier a high-end gaming rig was enough to mine one or two Bitcoin over a month, now there are a lot more people competing for sealing off the blocks, which means the hardware requirement has gotten exponentially higher. 

This is because the Bitcoin protocol demands a proof of work which is basically that the hash needs to look a certain way. But there is no way of knowing what the hash should look like before creating the block. As a result, a miner has to make several attempts at creating the hash which is what takes the most amount of time and computational power.

Samsung's effort to keep its upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone secret is an abysmal exercise owing to the numerous leaks that have fueled the rumour mills since last year. But the final nail in the coffin is perhaps a comprehensive list of leaks by industry veteran Eldar Murtazin which tells almost everything there is to know about the upcoming devices.

As expected, the Galaxy S8 will launch in two variants- One featuring a 5.7-inch display and the Galaxy S8 Plus sporting a 6.2-inch display. Yet, despite sporting bigger display the phones will retain dimensions similar to last year's Galaxy S7 owing to a larger screen-to-body ratio.

Murtazin mentions that the Galaxy S8 will have dimensions of 140.14x72.2x7.3mm making it shorter and thinner than the Galaxy S7 Edge while the Galaxy S8 Plus with the 6.2-inch will have dimensions of 152.38x78.51x7.9mm. This will of course be bigger than the Galaxy S7 Edge but despite the larger display, it will much more compact that the Galaxy Note 7 which had dimensions of 153.5x73.9x7.9mm.

Both handsets will sport Samsung's new AMOLED displays, although Murtazin couldn't confirm whether Samsung is ditching the physical home button or not. Rumours have been rife about Samsung embedding the fingerprint sensor under the display or at the back and doing away with the home button to make more space for the screen. Also, just like the Galaxy Note 7, both variants will feature the iris scanner for more security.

Coming to the hardware, Murtazin states the phones might be powered by either the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895, both built on a 10nm assembly process. This will be coupled with 6GB of RAM for the 64GB base variant. He said nothing about the rumoured 8GB RAM variant.

The battery on the upcoming Galaxy S8 will be the same as last years and the phone will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. USB-C port and MicroSD card slot will also be present.

Surprisingly missing in the leak is information about the camera. Samsung is expected to put a dual-camera stack on the bigger Galaxy S8 Plus variant.

In addition, Murtazin reported the device will come running Android 7.1.1 with TouchWiz UI on top. The devices will have Samsung Pay, Samsung Cloud and the highly anticipated AI assistant named Bixby. There will also be a dedicated Game Mode which might be the rumoured Beast Mode. Also, the phones will feature a Windows Continuum-like feature that will allow the phone to connect to a monitor for desktop mode.

The leaks also state that Samsung will price the devices quite aggressively in the market with the base Galaxy S8 priced around $700 (roughly Rs 47,600) and the Galaxy S8 Plus priced around $850 (roughly Rs 57,800). It is likely that the devices will be priced similar to the Galaxy S7 models when they launched last year.

Yet, despite spilling the beans on almost everything, Murtazin had no clue about when the device will come to the masses. There have been rumours that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S8 at MWC 2017 in Barcelona next month. But Murtazin expects the phones to ship sometime late April.


OnePlus really did leave its customers in a quandary the moment it launched the OnePlus 3T in India earlier this month. On one side, it sells this fantastic phone — the OnePlus 3, which has captured the imagination of the public and even people who generally gravitate towards an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy have opted for this value for money messiah that gives them 95 percent of the creature comforts of a premium smartphone without pinching their pockets.

But then what does it do — it goes and launches an upgraded version of the same phone less than 6 months later for an extra 2k. So what does one do? How does one choose because these upgrades aren't game-changing — they don't radically alter the experience of the phones because they look the same, perform quite similarly and run the same software.

Key differences :-

1. OnePlus 3 has a the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor while the OnePlus 3T has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Essentially, this new processor is just 10 percent faster as per Qualcomm's claims. The Snapdragon 821 also adds support for Android Daydream View, but that's something the OnePlus 3T doesn't support.

2. The OnePlus 3 has a 3,000mAh battery with Dash Charging technology, while the OnePlus 3T has a 3,400mAh battery which is almost 14 percent larger. It also has the dash charging technology.

3. OnePlus 3 uses the Sony IMX 298 sensor which is a 16-megapixel snapper in tandem with optical image stabilisation and phase detect autofocus. The OnePlus 3T uses the same stack, but it has added a sapphire lens cover. The new Qualcomm processor also enables a new breed of software based electronic stabilisation for video.

4. The OnePlus 3 has a Sony 8-megapixel sensor while the OnePlus 3T has a 16-megapixel sensor on the front sourced from Samsung.

5. OnePlus 3 is offered only in a 64GB model which costs Rs 27,999 on Amazon India. The OnePlus 3T is offered in 64GB and 128GB model which cost Rs 29,999 and 34,999 respectively.


Who are these difference meant for? 

Essentially, these differences are there to extend the life of the OnePlus 3 design language before OnePlus comes out with a redesigned phone. This is to make sure that the phone can keep up with some of the newer phones like the Google Pixel or the Xiaomi Mi Mix - most of these phones are based on the new Qualcomm 821 chip.

Questions you need to ask yourself before making the choice :- 

1. Do I need my phone to last a full day on a single charge without a charger? 

If the answer is a resounding yes, then you must opt for the OnePlus 3T. It offers a significant boost in battery life over the OnePlus 3 which in my tests amount to more than 20 percent. Even with the OnePlus 3 it is possible to last a day but you'd need the odd dash charging session. With the OnePlus 3T even with heavy usage you wouldn't need that.

2. How important is the camera? What kind of images do you shoot? 

While the camera is more or less the same, the upgrade to the sapphire lens cover on the OnePlus 3T means that it takes better macro shots. If you're the type of person that does a lot of food photography or takes photos of flowers from a close distance, this will be a nice upgrade. Electronic stabilisation also makes sure that the OnePlus 3T takes smoother videos, but if you're trying to take videos in dim environments with loud volumes, then both phones are equally hapless.

3. How important are selfies? 

Here's the thing, both phones take similar selfies. The enhancement in the resolution of the camera has done little to improve the quality of selfies. They look quite similar which basically means that the phones take decent and usable selfies for sharing on social media.

4. Do you need more memory? Do you like to store all you content locally?

If the answer is a yes, then obviously the 128GB model of the OnePlus 3T will come in handy. At the same time, one has to be mindful of the fact that it costs Rs 34,999, which is Rs 5,000 more than the 64GB model of the OnePlus 3T and Rs 7,000 more than the OnePlus 3.

5. I want the OnePlus 3, where should I buy it from since it is available on Flipkart and Amazon? 

In the case you settle in on the OnePlus 3, then in case you where planning on buying it for just Rs 18,999 on Flipkart, then we'd advise to not. Instead, you should buy it from Amazon India which has an official partnership with OnePlus to sell the phone in India. On Amazon India, of course, the phone costs Rs 27,999, but it is the one and only place to buy an authentic OnePlus 3 which will be eligible for after sales support. One really doesn't know how Flipkart has managed to procure these cheaper OnePlus 3 units and there is no guarantee on how it intends to provide after sales.

Other than these differences, there isn't much in way of life changing differences between the two phones. Their performance is similar, they have the same screen size, resolution and technology and they run basically the same software; so much so that they will get the update to Android Nougat at the same time.

Razer had some of the coolest tech of CES in 2017. First there was the enormous 17-inch 12K laptop with three screens and enough LEDs to light a small runway. Then there was the sleek alien-looking projector that expanded a game's image well beyond the edges of the TV screen. Gizmodo was impressed with these prototypes. So were some thieves, who stole at least two prototype samples from Razer's booth during the show.
"I've just been informed that two of our prototypes were stolen from our booth at CES today," Razer's CEO, Min-Liang Tan, announced via Facebook. Besides acknowledging the thefts Tan also suggested the thieves might have been motivated by either greed or corporate espionage. However, crucially, Tan did not mention which prototypes were stolen.
As both prototypes were being exhibited in extremely controlled settings, with many planned and promoted features not yet working, its safe to say that if they were stolen for fun and not profit than the thieves are going to be pretty disappointed with their ill-begotten booty.

Nokia and Ooredoo Qatar announced that they have broken the 40Gbps download and upload speed landmark during a pilot test conducted in Doha. According to the announcement the companies used Nokia’s next generation fibre technology over the existing single fibre network as the overlay to achieve the speed. The new technology used in achieving the overlay is dubbed as TWDM-PON fibre technology (Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network), alternatively known as NG-PON2 (Next Generation PON 2).
This technology delivers four additional wavelengths than conventional fibre cables with each layer giving 10Gbps upload and download speeds at the same time. One interesting fact is that the overlay technology employed by Ooredoo Qatar can easily add more capacity to existing networks without the need to add any new fibre. Ooredoo is experimenting on increasing the speed after initially launching 1Gbps Fiber services along with trials for 10Gbps fiber-to-the-Home earlier this year as reported by The Peninsula Qatar.
The current system works on GPON which provides 2.5Gbps speeds, and the company is planning to upgrade to XGS-PON. The pilot program ensures that the company can effortlessly upgrade to TWDM-PON in future using the same ISAM FX access node as reported by Advanced Television. This test is the part of Qatar National Vision 2030 that aims at boosting knowledge to indirectly boost the economy.

Gionee has launched the M2017 in China ahead of CES 2017. The phone features some impressive specs and an “elegant” and “symmetrical design”.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 along with 6GB RAM while drawing power from a massive 7,000 mAh battery. According to reports, the smartphone comes with two 3,500mAh batteries inside. This unusual decision was taken to reduce bulk.
The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch QHD display (2560×1440). The company will give you the option to take the 128GB option or the 256GB option as internal storage. Gionee is not giving the options without reason as this smartphone does not come with a microSD card for expansion of storage later. Gionee has also removed the 3.5mm headphone jack, following the decisions made by Apple to remove the same on the Apple iPhone 7.
M2017 will further pack a dual-camera lens set on the rear of the camera with 12MP and 13MP sensors, along with an 8MP camera module on the front. The smartphone will weigh 238g. The dimensions are 155.2 x 77.6 x 10.78 mm. The M2017 will run Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box with Amigo 3.5 Skin on top.
The fingerprint sensor will be in the front on this smartphone. Gionee has priced the smartphone at 6,999RM (around Rs 68,500) as reported by GSMArena. The high-end, 256GB internal storage model will come with a custom Italian alligator leather back for 16,999 RMB which works out to a whopping Rs 1,66,000!
Note that these are not India prices and it’s not even known whether the phone will come to India or not.
Fast food restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) launched its first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled cafe in Beijing, and said it plans to create more innovative and interesting dining experiences for customers. With the cooperation of Baidu Inc, China’s largest search engine, KFC started its first smart restaurant in the Financial Street area in Beijing on Friday, the People’s Daily reported on Sunday.
At the cafe, customers are able to take pictures with a machine, which will recognise the diner’s face, sex, age, mood and other features, then help to recommend suitable food and set meals and complete the ordering process.
“If the consumer visits the store again and takes a picture with the machine, it will be able to recognize his or her face and show the previous purchase history, remember the customer’s dining habits, and help to place an order faster,” said Wu Zhongqin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Deep Learning of Baidu Inc, which helped to develop the technology.
With another machine with an augmented reality, customers are able to interact with the machine, change facial expressions by shaking their heads in front of the machine, take photos, and save them to their phones. In April, KFC also started its first Chinese smart restaurant in Shanghai. The outlet is equipped with intelligent robot ordering, debuting the use of artificial intelligence in the chain restaurants.

For the first time in a decade, Apple’s laptops have failed to meet the quality and consistency standards as set by Consumer Reports.
As far as impartial, unbiased reviews are concerned, you’d be hard pressed to find an organisation more reliable than Consumer Reports. It’s a non-profit organisation that tests and rates products on various parameters including quality, performance and consistency.
Normally, all of Apple’s products get the coveted ‘recommended’ badge from Consumer Reports, but reportedly, the current MacBook Pro lineup just didn’t make the cut.
Why? Battery life.In its testing, Consumer Reports found that battery life varied between 4.5-19.6 hours. A result that makes no sense in a standardised testing environment. As Consumer Reports explains, a variation of 5 percent is understandable, not a variation of over 300 percent.
One might be justified in calling Consumer Reports’ testing methodology in question; but this is a company that specialises in testing, after all.
Consumer Reports purchases the products it tests commercially at retail prices, these are not sourced from the manufacturer. For the battery tests, the company uses an external tool to set the screen brightness to 100 Nits, updates the devices to the latest OS version (macOS Sierra 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 in this case) and runs a loop where the laptops download a series of 10 pages in sequence over Wi-Fi.
To remove any inconsistencies, the websites are hosted on a local server and the download happens over a dedicated Wi-Fi network. The OS’ default browser is used, in this case it was Safari.
When the tests were run on Google Chrome, a notoriously battery hungry browser, Consumer Reports was surprised to find that battery life was consistently high. Given that the test was only run twice on all 3 devices (15-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Pro with TouchBar, 13-inch MacBook Pro without TouchBar), Consumer Reports doesn’t think the results are conclusive.
Bloomberg recently interviewed people at Apple, where it discovered that the Apple Mac Team was getting “far less attention than it once did”. Members of the team were reportedly complaining of there being “no clear direction” from senior management and that the departure of senior members had hampered the team.
In fact, speaking specifically of the battery life issues that plague the new MacBook Pros, Bloomberg discovered that the original plan was to use shaped batteries in the devices, as are used on the 12-inch MacBook. This would have resulted in larger capacity batteries.
