Red Dead Redemption has a metacritic score of 95 on both the PlayStation and the Xbox, and Rockstar just officially proclaimed a sequel.
When you are announcing a follow up title to one of the most critically acclaimed video games of all time, you can trigger the mania with almost nothing. Rockstar managed to build up the hype with a couple of minimalistic images posted on Twitter, the first of which was just a red background with the Rockstar logo.
A day later another tweet showed the cast of characters in the new game against a sun on the horizon. The characters were in the distance, and had the atmosphere of a western film about the American Frontier. The creators of Grand Theft Auto V seemed to be coming up with another epic adventure set in the merciless American heartland.
Today, it was made official. Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming next year. The third tweet in the series, had more details emerge on the characters. They walked in closer to the viewers. The trailer is going to drop on 20 October. The trailer will debut on RockstarGames.

The game is the third in the franchise, after Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Revolver.Rockstar has promised a brand new multiplayer experience. The game is expected to be console only at this time. A map from the game had leaked around the same time as E3 2016.
