Oppo has announced two new smartphones in China, the R9s and R9s Plus. Priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 27,700) and CNY 3,499 (approximately Rs. 34,700) the smartphones are similar in design and will be available in gold and rose gold colour variants.
The Oppo R9s Plus is the larger device among the two with a 6-inch full-HD (1920×1080) display along with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, the only other phone featuring the new protective glass was the Galaxy Note 7. Inside there is an all new Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz and is paired with 6GB RAM and an Adreno 510 GPU. There is 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded using the hybrid microSD card slot. At the back there is a 16MP with an f/1.7 aperture, OIS, and a dual LED flash. Even the front camera offers a similar 16MP resolution, however it might skip on the rest of the features as mentioned on the rear camera. The battery is rated at 4000mAh battery along with VOOC flash charging technology. According to the company, the smartphone will offer 2 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charging.
The Oppo R9s is the smaller version featuring a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920×1080) display with the same Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It features a Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. While it packs the same cameras, it doesn’t feature OIS or the dual LED flash. There is a 3010mAh battery with the same VOOC flash charging technology.
Both the smartphones features a fingerprint sensor below the display embedded in the home button. They will arrive with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with OPPO’s ColorOS 3.0 skin on top. No word on the Indian availability or pricing.
