Over the years, Android users have suffered from the wrath of fragmentation. While iPhone owners got the latest iOS updates within days, Android users have to wait months, even years to get their phones running the latest update. And by the time they get an update, it is still not the latest one.
But after Android 7.0 Nougat came out, most of the smartphone brands were quick to the update timelines for their devices. Lenovo too announced in September that its Moto G4 and the Moto Z lineup will receive the update to Android Nougat by the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Technically, that would mean the phones would have received to the update by now, but instead what you get is the complete list of phone that will be getting the update 'soon'.
The list includes:
Moto G4 Plus
Moto G4 Play
Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen)
Moto X Style
Moto X Play
Moto X Force
Droid Turbo 2
Droid Maxx 2
Moto Z
Moto Z Droid
Moto Z Force Droid
Moto Z Play
Moto Z Play Droid
Motorola Nexus 6
You must have spotted the older Moto X phones in the list. That meansLenovo isn't forgetting about its older devices and hopefully, after the first phase of rolling out the Android 7.0 update, other older phones like the Moto G3 lineup may also receive the update.
Android 7.0 Nougat was unveiled at the Google I/O Developer Conference in June this year. And it comes with a host of new features including multi-window support, an improved notifications panel, direct reply to notifications, improved battery efficiency and Daydream VR support.
The Moto Z was launched in India on Tuesday by Lenovo for a price of Rs 39,999 for the Moto Z and for Rs 24,999 for the Moto Z Play. Both phones will be available from October 17 exclusively on Flipkart and Amazon.
