We’ve been carefully following rumors of a powerful new Samsung flip phone codenamed “Veyron.” Now it turns out the company might also be working on a separate mid-range Android clamshell.
The Galaxy Folder 2 recently leaked out on Weibo, revealing a slim Android flip phone with a gold design. The device allegedly packs a 3.8-inch display, an unnamed Qualcomm processor, a 2,000mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
That’s a far cry from the rumored “Veyron” clamshell, which reportedly sports a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel shooter and other flagship-level specs. But the Galaxy Folder 2 could make up for it with a budget-friendly price. It’s apparently set to launch in China for just $250.
Unfortunately, neither of Samsung’s rumored flip phones is expected to launch in the U.S. or anywhere else beyond China. It’s possible the company could surprise us with a global release, but given its recent history that seems pretty unlikely.
