Activision has published a whole host of classic Sierra point-and-click adventures on Steam, bringing the golden age of adventure games to more modern digital outlets. And yes, they were already available on GOG, just to point that out, too. The games available include all five Quest for Glory games in a single package, the entirePolice Quest series in a similarly priced bundle, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father and its sequels available individually, and both Phantasmagoria games available individually. The undisputed sire of the bunch, though, is the King’s Quest Collection. I played these obsessively back before I was allowed to have an NES in my house, and I still have a certain fondness for them. All six classic adventure games (and King’s Quest VII) are available in a slightly pricey bundle for $19.99. Oh, Activision. I’ve heard of Square Enix tax, but this company can be even more ridiculous at times. Regardless, King’s Quest, the first Gabriel Knight, and Quest for Glory are definitely the way to go. Just don’t approach them expecting the same training wheels that the LucasArts adventures provide. These suckers are brutal and unforgiving. Any mistakes, and it’s back to the beginning!
