Samsung already teased plans to reveal the Gear S3 this week at IFA 2016, but we still don’t know what the new smartwatch will look like. Now two new images published by SamMobile may reveal how the South Korean company plans to upgrade its design in a surprising way.
The leaked pictures, which come from screen protector company Illumishield, claim to show a gold-colored Gear S3. The design looks pretty familiar aside from one big difference. It looks like Samsung included a crown button similar to the one on the Apple Watch, along with the rotating bezel already included with the Gear S2.
We’re not sure why Samsung would offer both options, especially when the rotating bezel worked so well on its own. SamMobile notes that the pictures could simply be placeholder images, pointing out that the watch face is the same as it was on the Gear S2. However, that doesn’t explain why Illumishield would add an extra button for no reason.
Hopefully, we should be getting an official look at the Gear S3 later this week so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out if these images are accurate. TechnoBuffalo is covering IFA 2016 live from Berlin, so stay tuned for all the news as it comes in.
