Motorola wasn't joking when it announced the Android Nougat update for its latest crop of phones are almost ready. Starting today, the Moto G4and the Moto G4 Plus will get the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, ahead of the Moto Z which will receive the update next month. Motorola conducted a soak test on Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users in Brazil earlier this month. After a successful soak test, where a handful of users receive the update first to smoothen out the likely bugs and incompatibilities, Motorola updated its India website with the news that the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus will be the first Motorola phones to get a taste of the latest Android. As of now, Lenovo has not announced the dates when the earlier Moto X, Moto E3 and the older generations of the Moto G will get the update. But they are still on the list of Moto phones that will receive the update by the end of this year. Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users in India can download the update now over a Wi-Fi connection with 50 per cent battery. Once you receive the notification of a pending update, tap on "Yes, I'm in" and the download will start. If you don't receive the notification, go to settings->About Phone->System Updates and you will get the notification. Android 7.0 Nougat brings a host of nifty new features including support for multi-window, Quick Switch to opened apps and support for Daydream VR platform. Additionally, Moto users will get a new Moto Action called Swipe which are gestures to shrink the screen and clear all apps. Android Nougat also brings better Java 8 support, direct reply to notifications, better battery efficiency and a new notification panel.
