OnePlus Forum users waited as November 30th rolled out, constantly refreshing the forums to check it the promised build had launched. Earlier Carl Pei had tweeted to generate hype and interest for people. Late last night around 11:55 PM (Indian Standard Time) the company announced the launch of the Open Beta 8 for OnePlus 3 users. This release comes after a closed beta test where the company tested the internal builds with selected users.
According to the forum post posted by OnePlus staff member Tony L, the update includes new notifications design, settings menu design, Multi-Window view, notification direct reply and ability to change DPI directly from the settings menu. The company has also added status bar icon options, ability to add Quick launch for third party apps along with improved Shelf customisation.
One thing to note is that the build is the first Beta for Android Nougat 7.0 and some bugs and broken things are expected. In fact, the company has warned that since this is a switch to new version of Android so this on may have more bugs than the normal community builds
According to the forum post the build has some performance and stability issues and Android Pay may not work as desired. One thing to note is that OnePlus 3 users who wish to switch back to Android Marshmallow based OxygenOS can’t downgrade from Android Nougat based OxygenOS and may need to contact customer support for that.
