Image result for fresh air mask xiaomi Xiaomi’s campaign against air pollution first took off with the announcement of the Mi Air Purifier. The company is now stepping things up a notch with the announcement of a new “Cloth Pear Fresh Air Mask” for everyone. This mask is made up of “high-grade textile” that’s put together in a “three-dimensional design” by hand sewing. The filter is apparently made from materials that achieve a PM2.5 filtration efficiency of 99 percent. PM 2.5 indicates particulates that are at least 2.5 microns in size, that’s about 30 times thinner than a human hair (around 70 microns). In theory, this filter can filter out visible smoke particles, which measure around 7 micrometers in size. The filter mechanism includes an “ultra-thin” fan for sucking in the air. You can adjust the fan’s speed via a button on the module. A “knob-type” filter filters the air from the fan and this can be replaced easily, claims Xiaomi. This air filter apparently packs in a Li-ion battery that should give about 4-8 hours of use. The entire unit weighs a mere 50.5g. Xiaomi has put the device up on sale on its crowdfunding site for CNY 89 (around Rs 900) per unit. The project has so far raised over CNY 629,853 (around Rs 61 lakhs). You can back it right now if you like, there are still 13 days left for the event to end. The Cloth Pear Fresh Air Mask will be delivered to backers on 20 December and Xiaomi has indicated no plans of selling the gadget commercially yet.
